Craft Area-Plan for multiuse corners to optimize functionality in a small basement.

This laundry room doubles as a storage room, craft area and wrap centre. Cabinetry constructed along the walls opposite the appliances retains lightbulbs, batteries, extra garbage bags and other household supplies. A pegboard outfitted with dangling containers and small rods keeps craft and wrapping materials organized while an adjoining corkboard exhibits inspirational photographs for craft and reno projects. Open shelves were put high on the walls to add storage space without creating the little room feel closed ; bins and baskets are used here in order to store modest things corralled.

Sewing Room-Make low ceilings appear higher with customized built-ins that maximize vertical distance.

This sewing, craft and gift-wrap station was designed to a corner of a basement laundry area. The plans included built-in cabinets which provide a great deal of storage to organize supplies and seasonal products. Simple Ikea boxes turn the spacious shelves into a tidy screen and white paint keeps it clean and glowing. The durable slate flooring is sensible and elevates the decoration.

Work with existing plumbing.

Putting this bath beside the pipes shaft made room for a freestanding sink in the little bathroom. New pipes was inserted from the laundry area, along with the HVAC ducts were raised to the ceiling joists to permit for as much headroom as possible.

Lower-Level Guest Bedroom-Wallpaper a wall rather than four.

From the 2009 Princess Margaret Showhome, the lower level was completed with fashion. A focal wall was covered in a textured background while the others were painted a creamy white to maximize lighting. A chandelier and table lamps allow guests to choose their favorite lighting.

Repurpose old furniture instead of buying new.

Designer and homeowner Barbara Purdy transformed a wood-burning fireplace to gasoline to make a cosy focal point in this room. I couldn't find myself hauling logs down the staircase, she says. Radiant heating installed under the wood-look porcelain-tile flooring adds much more warmth. The couch, a hand-me-down from her parents, was recovered and layered with pillows.
